Choral music has been sounding out across the Diocese, as part of a German choir’s visit to the North.
The Augustinian Church Choir, from Erfut in Germany, have been touring the area to mark 21 years of the partnership between the Diocese and the Erfurt Kirchenkreis.
On Wednesday October 16 the choir performed a range of pieces at Bradford Cathedral as part of the cathedral’s ‘Wednesday@One’ organ recital series.
Alex Berry, Director of Music at Bradford Cathedral, accompanied the choir on the organ, and said:
“It’s a real joy to be working with the Augustiner-Kantorei who are a massive choir from Erfurt.
“They have 110-members and they are here on an eight day tour of the UK.
“We took the Bradford Cathedral choir over to Erfurt earlier this year and they were our hosts, and welcomed us so generously, and we are very pleased to welcome them to our cathedral.”
The choir are performing at other cathedrals and churches across the diocese until Sunday October 20, with the itinerary being as follows:
Thursday, October 17: Ripon Cathedral, lunchtime concert, 1pm
Friday, October 18: Leeds Minister, midday concert, 12:30pm
Saturday, October 19: St Margaret’s Church, Ilkley; evening concert, 7:30pm
