Beer and hymns blended at a special Bank Holiday service held in an Apperley Bridge pub garden.
Some 60 people sipped and sang in blazing sunshine at the Dog and Gun at the service organised by folk from St John’s Community Church, Greengates and Apperley Bridge.
Hon Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Leeds, the Rt Revd Chris Edmondson is one of the team who led the event and told how it had come from a new venture which began in January this year.
“We meet every Sunday afternoon at 4pm usually in the Church Hall of St John’s, with support from Holy Trinity Idle,” said Bishop Chris, pictured at the keyboard.
“We began doing this on a weekly basis in January this year, and as part of engaging and reaching out to the wider community.”
“As part of this venture, on Sunday, August 25, we held a ‘Beer and Hymns’ at one of the local pubs, the Dog and Gun and were delighted that over 60 people joined in!”
And the pictures prove that that all those there were delighted too.
