The Bishop of Bradford has given his backing to the Schools Linking Network (SLN), a national charity that supports young people, schools and local authorities to explore identity, diversity, equality and community.
The project began in Bradford in 2001 - one hundred individual classes and seventy-eight schools are involved, and there continues to be a waiting list. Bishop Toby Howarth visited projects run by the charity including a sixth form debate on the Israel-Palestine conflict taking place at the National Media Museum facilitated by SLN staff, and a project at the Cartwright Hall Art Gallery which was a neutral space for two primary schools to come together for an SLN arts project exploring identity and understanding.

Bishop Toby went on to chair a lunchtime conference for potential partners and supporters of the SLA, and spoke of the importance of its work and the need for further support and partnerships. Other speakers included Trevor Pears, the Executive Chair of the Pears Foundation, currently one of the main supporters of SLN.
