Bishop Jonathan opens a little learning library

When Bishop Jonathan visited...by Millie and Ruby aged 9.

On Wednesday 28th of September 2016 the Bishop of Huddersfield came to St Aidan's CE VA First School in Skelmanthorpe to officially open our Little Learning Library.

It was a great day for our school to finally and officially open it, he blessed our new bibles kindly donated by our PTA. The books are a great inspiration to our school. The Little Learning Library is also a place for people to relax and calm down, to read books they love and to just enjoy English. On the opening day our Collective Worship club members came up to the front to read us a snippet of their favourite books in the Library. It was truly special.

We all sat outside to watch the cutting of the ribbon as soon as the ribbon was cut, Bishop Jonathan did his blessings on us and the school when the ceremony was over he went round the school and talked to us, he said his final goodbyes and left.

We had an amazing time meeting Bishop Jonathan and having our Little Learning Library open. We are now using the library at breaks and lunchtimes. We also hope to open the bus before school and let preschool children access it.
