Bishop Nick endorses the Leeds People's Pilgrimage

On Saturday 28 November many will be taking part in the Leeds People’s Pilgrimage - part of the “For the Love of Yorkshire” climate festival. People will set off from the four corners of the city and then join together for a service at Leeds Minster at 12.30pm. (More details here)

Bishop Nick says,Ahead of the international talks in Paris, the Leeds People’s Pilgrimage is a local opportunity for people to demonstrate a commitment to being part of the solution to climate change.

“While in the West we don't yet feel the full effects, increased flooding and changing seasonal patterns affecting our farmers are local indications that the changes occurring to the environment are very real.

“Christians believe that they are called to care for a creation that is a gift from our Creator and to act with compassion for those whose lives are devastated by the changing climate – who invariably, while being the least responsible for it, are powerless to do anything about it.

Bishop Nick signing a message going to the world leaders at the climage change talks in Paris.

“So I encourage all who can to choose a corner of Leeds on 28 November and join the pilgrimage to promote a greater sense of urgency for local and global action on climate change.”
