“Christmas is when God breaks into the ordinary. We build it up as something extraordinary, but in fact God comes among us as one of us – right into the ordinariness of life.
“So at a time when we are beset by challenges like Brexit, political instability and problems around the world we may look for God to do something extraordinary, when in fact Christmas tells us he meets us where we are.
“So this Christmas, which I pray will be happy for all of us, let’s face the challenges which lie ahead with a confidence that God doesn’t wait until everything is fine and sorted out, but in fact comes to where we are, into the midst of how we are.
