Bishops’ Christmas prayers go online

This Christmas our bishops are taking to social media to share their messages and prayers for Christmas  from their area of the  Diocese of Leeds.

The five area bishops as well as Bishop Nick have used their own mobile phones for the simple messages which are being shared on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Each day a new message is being uploaded. So far this week there have been contributions from Bishop Jonathan Gibbs, the Area Bishop of Huddersfield, Bishop Toby Howarth, the Bishop of Bradford and Bishop Tony Robinson the Bishop of Wakefield. This Thursday and Friday watch out for two more videos from Bishop Helen-Ann Hartley, the Bishop of Ripon, and Bishop Paul Slater, the Bishop of Kirkstall (Leeds area).

Then on Christmas Day, Bishop Nick Baines, our diocesan bishop will bring a short Christmas Day message which will again be shared on social media channels.

So far topics touched on have included praying that God will be with us (Bishop Jonathan) and hope and certainty in a changing world (Bishop Tony). Bishop Paul’s prayer focuses on important environmental concerns.

The videos will appear on this page as well as on the Diocese of Leeds social media channels as they are published.
