Bradford charity appeals for sleeping bags

A Bradford charity is appealing to local churches for old sleeping bags.  Bradford Street Angels patrol the city centre streets every Friday and Saturday evening looking out for anyone who might be vulnerable.  As the nights become colder and those who sleep rough are at greater risk, the Street Angels hand out sleeping bags to those who need them.

Nicholas Clews, a parish priest based at St Margaret's Thornbury and a trustee of the Street Angels said  "We are completely reliant on members of the public for anything we give out to rough sleepers.

"The churches of Bradford have always been very generous with financial donations.  Now we want their old sleeping bags.  And we really do mean old - sleeping bags have a very short street life and new bags create more problems than they solve!"

Bags can be let at St Margaret's Church which shares its space with The Thornbury Centre on Leeds Old Road or at St James Church on Galloway Lane, Pudsey.
