Work to transform a former nightspot into a brand new church in the heart of Bradford has now begun.
This major project will see the Glydegate Square complex, once home to the Revolution nightclub, converted into Fountains Church.
The Coronavirus pandemic has delayed progress, but Fountains Church Leader Revd Linda Maslen said it was now safe to start work:
“We very much hope that we will be contributing to the overall positive development of this west side of our amazing city.
”This has felt like a long time in coming for us with the impact of COVID – 19, but I’m so delighted that Bermar a Bradford building firm, have been contracted to develop phase one of our Fountains Church,” Revd Linda said.
“This first phase will see a space created where our church can worship, and the building will then develop into a place to be shared the community and local businesses.
“There will also be a cafe which will serve amazing meals made from food intercepted and saved from going to waste!”
A phased opening of Fountains Church is hoped to begin in October.
