Preparations are underway for the spectacular annual Dean’s Banquet, taking place on Friday 29 September.
The nave of the spectacular Ripon Cathedral will be transformed for the fundraising dinner, an exclusive candlelit banquet where 200 guests will enjoy a 4-course meal and fine musical entertainment, this year provided by the Dishforth Military Wives Choir.
The evening will begin with a sparkling gin cocktail reception accompanied by a jazz band and finish with a silent disco. Guests will be invited to don a pair of headphones and take part in the unique experience of dancing inside the Cathedral!
Hosted by the Very Revd John Dobson, Dean of Ripon, the banquet aims to raise funds for Ripon Cathedral Renewed: Plans for a 21st Century Yorkshire Cathedral.
The project will enhance the visitor experience by providing a refectory for refreshments, toilets, and the development of new areas of the Cathedral, opening them up to the public while creating a public space for the benefit of the wider community.
Organising the Dean’s Banquet is the Ripon Cathedral Development Campaign which runs eight major public events every year. These include the popular Beer Festival and the Christmas Gift and Food Fair.
Campaign Manager, Margaret Hammond, said, “ the Banquet is one of the most spectacular events the Cathedral hosts during the year. The building comes alive with guest enjoying the evening in the beautiful candle-lit setting.
“It’s a unique dining experience held in one of Yorkshire’s most stunning venues. The evening provides an opportunity to support this wonderful building and at the same time enjoying gourmet food, music and much more”.
