Cathedral to provide Christian presence in Bradford’s new shopping centre

As the new £260 million Bradford Broadway Shopping Centre opened this November, Bradford Cathedral will be providing a Christian presence and working with other Bradford churches to offer prayer in the new centre.

A feature of the new centre will be a ‘Contemplation Room’ and the neighbouring Bradford Cathedral, has been working closely on its development with the Centre Manager and Administrator.

Dean of Bradford Cathedral, the Very Revd Jerry Lepine (pictured at today's opening with Sue Anderson-Brown, the manager of the new Broadway Centre)? said, “The Broadway have asked the Cathedral if we could take the lead on providing a Christian presence in the Contemplation Room throughout the working week, to act as welcomers and to offer prayer if requested.

“This is a huge undertaking so we have been working with the Prayer for Bradford Network to invite other churches to be involved.”

The Cathedral says that volunteers from churches will be needed to staff around 150 two or three hour sessions each month.

Anyone interested in volunteering to join the team is asked to contact Canon Mandy Coutts at the Cathedral - mandy.coutts@bradfordcathedral.or

A second joint project between the Cathedral and the Broadway Shopping Centre will be a Shoe Box appeal in early December to fill shoe boxes with Christmas gifts for disadvantaged children in the Bradford area.
