Cathedral transformed into bustling Christmas market for a day

Food and Gift FairRipon Cathedral will be transformed into a bustling Christmas market when it hosts a Christmas Gift and Food Fair on Saturday 26 November 2016.

Now in its fourteenth successful year, the fair has grown from small beginnings and is now more popular than ever.

The Fair hosts more than 100 stalls offering gifts and food as well as a  range of festivities including hot turkey sandwiches and mulled wine, musical entertainment throughout the day including local choirs, Santa in his Grotto all within the medieval walls of the ancientg cathedral. .

Traders at the fair also include local food producers offering preserves, baked goodies, oils, local cheeses, fine liqueurs and sweet treats. Other stalls include handmade jewellery, clothing, art, crafts and other exclusive gifts that cannot be found on the high street to help you find that perfect gift this Christmas.

Among the special guests will be  Holly Holder, a blind visual artist who ‘Uses art to escape blindness & express herself through her art.’ Her work will be available to buy during the fair.

Campaign Assistant and Fair Organiser Carolyn Sands Says ‘We are looking forward to welcome Holly Holder to the Cathedral for what looks to be another exciting and busy Christmas fair.’

There will also be a number of festival stalls at The Old Deanery including jewellery, sweets as well as local author Emma Warner-Reed who will be doing a special book signing of her latest children’s books ‘The Dotty Series’ in the Old Deanery throughout the day.

The money raised from the Christmas Gift and Food Fair goes towards the Ripon Cathedral Renewed Project – the new development plans for a 21st Century Yorkshire Cathedral.

The Christmas Gift and Food Fair will take place on Saturday 26 November from 10.00am until 4.30pm at Ripon Cathedral and the Old Deanery Hotel across the road of the Cathedral. Entry is £2.50 and tickets can be purchased on the door.
