This year, Education Sunday, the Church of England’s celebration of education and schools, has been moved from January to September 11, and a church in the Bradford Episcopal Area will be celebrating with four University academics who live locally.
St Peter’s Church in Addingham near Ilkley has invited the four University lecturers to talk about their work and the contribution their subject makes to the community.
The speakers at the event which takes place at 4pm on Sunday September 11th are Dr. Andrew Evans, Senior Lecturer in Geography at Leeds University, Dr. Carol Miles, Retired Principal Lecturer in English Literature at the University of Winchester, Prof. Stan Wainer, Emeritus Professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Leeds and Prof. Arthur Francis, Retired Dean of the School of Management at Bradford University.
Although the event is being held in St Peter’s Church, organisers say the event won’t be specifically a Christian event, and is for everyone.
