St. Paul’s Church in Manningham, Bradford, organized a New Year party for Iranian members of its congregation on March 20th, New Year’s Day.
The church joined with hundreds of thousands of people across the world in welcoming in the Persian New Year and celebrating the first day of spring in a festival called “Nowruz” or “Navroz”.
“This is a day believed to promote peace, solidarity, reconciliation and neighbourliness” said Vicar of Manningham, Canon Alistair Helm.
“It is designed to be filled with good food, new clothes and quality time with loved ones.”
Celebrations at Saint Paul’s Church involved lots of dancing and great Iranian food, cooked throughout the day by families from the church.
