Christians and Muslims are handing out white roses for peace in Dewsbury and Batley town centres this week as part of Interfaith Week.
The North Kirklees Interfaith Council gave out 400 ‘Roses for Peace’ on Wednesday morning (Nov 14) in the centre of Dewsbury, each with gift tags carrying messages of peace from Islam and Christianity.
Also taking part were the charity ‘Faithful Neighbours’ and coordinator, Emily Tidball said, “We had a great response and can't wait to do it again....on Saturday.”

It took just 20 minutes for all 400 white roses to go, but the Revd Simon Cash from the Dewsbury Team parish said it had been very worthwhile. “To give out 400 roses in Dewsbury Town Centre to people of all cultures and faiths and none, it’s just been absolutely great to see so many people. And the way that people have received them has been really positive….. a number of people said to me ‘ if only we really did have peace.’”
More roses will be given out on Saturday 17th November 9-11am in Batley.
