Christians in Conversation at Pride

On Saturday 5 August, All Hallows Church in Hyde Park is organising an ecumenical get-together the day before Leeds Pride Sunday (6 August) called ‘Christians in Conversation for Pride’.

Vicar, the Revd Heston Groenewald, says, “Please join us for afternoon tea, cake and conversation.

"We're thrilled to welcome New Testament scholar, the Revd Jonathan Tallon, who will share some hopeful insights into the so-called 'Terror Texts' (as denoted by feminist biblical scholar Phyllis Trible). For a sneak preview, here is a sermon he recently preached at Chapel Allerton Baptist Church.

“All are welcome of course! We will focus on writings from the Jewish-Christian tradition, but would LOVE to welcome you if you follow a different faith - or no faith at all.

"All Hallows has been an Inclusive church for many years. This means much rejoicing in the vibrant, fruitful faith of our LGBT+ brothers and sisters in Christ - and sadly also means much mourning that they feel hurt and excluded from mainstream Church life.

"Encounter and conversation are so fundamental to breaking down barriers - and sexuality is such a huge barrier for us Christians. We would love this Conversation at Pride  to bring Christians together for faithful gracious encounters and conversations, and for surprise and encouragement."

Saturday 5 August, 3-5pm, at All Hallows, 4 Regent Terrace, LS6 1NP Leeds
