Singer-songwriter Gareth Davies Jones is coming back to the Upper Holme Valley with a unique Christmas acoustic next month to remind people of the meaning of this special time of year.
Gareth opened the Holme Valley’s second Festival of Faith in July with a song when he encouraged local people to write and perform their own festival song to celebrate the fullness of life all around them.
You can hear it here: http://www.holmevalleyfestivaloffaith.org/
Now he is coming back as part of his Nine Lessons tour to bring his own interpretation of some of our more traditional carols and the Christmas story.
Team Vicar, Nick Heaton, who was part of the organising team behind the summer’s Festival of Faith, said:
“So many people get to Christmas day exhausted, never having had a chance to pause and reflect on the fact that Jesus truly is ‘God with us.’
“This is an opportunity to slow down and relax for one evening in the middle of December, to hear some fresh arrangements of carols and the stories behind them.
“We are delighted to welcome back Gareth. He made a big impact here during our Festival of Faith and we are looking forward to hearing his unique take on Christmas in this alternative Christmas event,” he said.
Holy Trinity Church, Holmfirth. December 13. 7.30pm.
Entry is free but donations welcome.
