Christmas spreads across the diocese as our cathedrals ring with carols

As the pace quickens towards Christmas, Bradford Cathedral and its choir led the way in the diocese with a packed Nine Lessons and Carols Service on Sunday.

Wakefield Cathedral will hold its Nine Lessons and Carols service on Sunday, December 23 from 3.30 to 4.30pm with its choristers and layclerks.

At Ripon Cathedral the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will take place twice - on December 23 and 24 at 5.30pm; these will see the cathedral packed for the incomparable telling of the story of Christmas in readings and carols.

Leeds Minster holds the same service at 5.30pm on Sunday December 23  and its Rector Sam Corley summed up the invitation to all being echoed in all of our churches:

"As we count down the days to Christmas, please join us as we explore afresh the story of the greatest miracle in the history of the world: the coming of God in human flesh as one of us.

"So come and celebrate with us the eternal gifts that God offers to us again this Christmas: you will always be most welcome"

Halifax Minster holds this traditional start to Christmas at 6.30pm on Sunday, December 23.
