For one Sunday only, the church of All Saints, Kirby Hill has exchanged pews for bar stools.
Members of the congregation as well as others from the local community held their Sunday service at The Fox and Hounds in Langthorpe as part of the church’s mission to the parish.
“The theme was 'All in the same boat'” explains lay member, Ric Welsby.
“We began by thinking of boats for travel and leisure, heard an extract from 'Three men in a boat', then thought about the boat as an image of the church and heard about Jesus calming the storm.”
“It was a lovely informal service and the enthusiastic singing could be heard by everyone in the pub. Several members of the congregation then stayed on for the pub's renowned 'Big Breakfast'”
