"She was such a beautiful lady with a beautiful smile.

Addressing the gathering, she said:

"It is so right, so good and proper that this church, and the space outside, is teeming with people who have come to offer their respects and love for Jodie and to show their support of Malcolm, Megan and all the family.

"Jodie was a woman full of fun, life and vitality who was a great colleague, a friend, an adoring mother, a caring daughter, a devoted wife.

"Jodie was preparing for Christmas and through the nature of her work, she was helping others in their preparations.

"And it was while about this work, that her life was ended so abruptly, shockingly and with devastating consequences.

"None of us could have anticipated that this Christmas, Jodie would be spending it with the angels and Jesus himself, who speaks these words to us: "I am the resurrection and the life.

"This was her church, she was married here and Megan was christened here.

"This is your church and it is my honour that from this place, together, we shall entrust God with this most precious person, knowing that He will cherish her...as indeed you cherish her."

Skipton's Mayor Andrew Rankine commented on his Facebook page: "I thought the service would be all doom and gloom, however, it wasn't.

"It was the most caring, compassionate and loving funeral service I have ever attended.

"I absolutely loved the choice of music, especially The Sound of Silence by Disturbed - music to which Jodie was brought into Church and also left Church at the end of the service,

"As Mayor of Skipton I was privileged to attend such a wonderful funeral service and celebration of Jodie's life."
