Two Fairtrade cocoa farmers will give a talk in Halifax Minster tomorrow evening (thurs March 2) as part of Fairtrade Fortnight and a campaign to make the town Fairtrade.
Local MP, Holly Lynch has asked local churches, businesses, schools, and residents to join her in the campaign to make the town Fairtrade.
She will introduce the two Ghanaian female cocoa farmers from the Divine chocolate company who will give a talk and Q&A session at Halifax Minster on Thursday at 6.30pm - the first in its Minster Series of talks - which will be followed by a free chocolate tasting session.
And this Sunday, the Vicar of Halifax Minster, the Revd Canon Hilary Barber is due to preach in Westminster Abbey on Fairtrade.
Divine Chocolate is the UK’s only Fairtrade and farmer owned chocolate company and earlier that day the two will visist Calderdale College to talk to students there about their lives and work.
Over twelve local schools have signed up to the Fairtrade Schools Conference on the 10th March, organised by fairandfunky and on the there will be a coffee morning at Halifax Central Library on Saturday 11th March where Fairtrade products will again be on sale and available to sample.
