Faith-sharing courses, community events and church services have been taking place in Skipton to tell people the message of Jesus in 2019.
All Saints' Church, Earby and St. Mary's, Kelbrook together with the local Baptist, Methodist and Roman Catholic churches in Skipton have undertaken this Churches Together initiative called #doyouknowHim.
The project began with training, delivered by Skipton Baptist Church, for an outreach team drawn from the different churches. This was followed by a faith-sharing lent course and evangelistic events, such as decorating pots and planting sunflower "seeds of hope", whilst discussing the Christian faith and offering prayer and small booklets about coming to know Jesus.
Sunday sermons in all the churches have been based on aspects of Jesus' character and ministry, which have, “proved to be thought-provoking and sometimes surprising,” said Rod Geddes, a member of the outreach team.
“The response had been very positive, both with people who have some links with the various churches and those who have no real links at all.
“It seems that people want the opportunity to talk about faith, whether they have one or not."
The Revd Hugh Fielden, vicar of Earby and Kelbrook, said, ""Do you know him?" Is a great question. It doesn't threaten or diminish but invites us to take the next step in our relationship with Jesus, whatever part of the faith journey we are on.
"Our DYKH team is made up of people from each of the churches in our area and is full of energy, excitement and ideas. I'm looking forward to seeing where this adventure will take us next."
200 ‘Bags of Blessings’ (pictured) have been prepared for distribution at future events and a follow-up nurture course is also planned to take place in June and July.
