Christians in the village of Bentham, near Ingleton in the Ewecross Deanery, will be studying the theme of Climate Change, this Lent.
Pictured is the Revd Timothy Fox who has organised a series of Lent Lunches with different churches and local experts providing the input. With him is a year 12 student, Evie Russell-Cohen, who has created a display for the series of meetings.
Among the speakers at High Bentham Methodist Church will be Andy Ive, an environmental engineer, whose church at Ingleton has just achieved its second Eco-Congregation award; Dr Judith Allinson, a botanical surveyor, who is currently producing a “Saving Wildlife” leaflet for Green Christian for use in churches; and the Revd Bryan Yardy, Minister for Bentham Methodist Church, with students from Capernwray Bible School, Carnforth.
Timothy Fox said, “These Lent Lunch Talks in Bentham arise out of a belief that all people and all things belong together and are mutually interdependent and that humans have a special responsibility for looking after the Planet Earth, including for future generations. God cares for his handiwork, and so should we. Many people feel disconnected from Nature, God’s creation, and part of our aim is to show that we are connected with everything in God’s world as well as with everyone.”
