Come and sing in newly renovated Wakefield Cathedral

Newly refurbished Wakefield Cathedral has issued an open invitation to all singers to come and perform with its choir for an evening of Come and Sing Choral Classics.

Classics include Handel’s Zadok the Priest and Hallelujah Chorus; Mozart’s Ave Verum and Howard Goodall’s The Lord is My Shepherd.

The event on Sunday June 19 will be lead by the Cathedral’s Director of Music, Tom Moore, and runs from 2-5pm followed by the public concert at 6pm.

Come and Sing Choral Classics is part of the Cathedral’s festival of events to showcase all that the Cathedral offers which so far has included political debate on the EU referendum with Lord Wallace of Saltaire and local MP Andrea Jenkyns and includes headline act, British Jazz Singer 2015, BBC Radio 2’s Clare Teal, Carelton Main Frickley Colliery Band, HM The Queen’s Birthday celebrations, Baquon, a Bethelehem dance troupe, alongside its weekly lunchtime concerts and regular daily worship.

Singers of all ages and levels of experience are welcome – the afternoon costs £5 to include music booklet and refreshments during breaks – and the concert will start at 6pm in the Cathedral. All are welcome.
