There are just two weeks left to submit any designs for this year's Christmas Art Competition organised by Huddersfield Choral Society.
The Society is challenging Sunday school pupils and young church-goers across Kirklees to get creative and design the cover for their 2015 Christmas Concert programme for the chance to win some incredible prizes.
This is the third time that the Choral Society has run the Christmas Art Competition and this year it will be judged again by popular Yorkshire watercolour artist Andrew Jenkin.
Organised by Sue Turnbull, Programme Secretary for the Huddersfield Choral Society, the competition asks children to design an image based around the question: ‘What does Christmas mean to you?’.
The image shows last year’s winner, 7-year-old Eve Antoniades from Lindley CofE Infants School, being presented with her prize on stage at Huddersfield Town Hall before the Christmas Concert by the conductor and presenter, Brian Kay and the Huddersfield Choral Society President, Jane Sargent.
Sue Turnbull says, “Last year’s competition was a great success! It was wonderful seeing so many children get involved.
“I’m very excited to see the designs that this year’s applicants will submit.”
The competition is open to any child between 5 and 11-years-old and the closing date for applications is Friday the 20th November.
The winner will be revealed two days later and their design will appear on the front cover of the programme for the Society’s Christmas Concert which will be held in Huddersfield Town Hall on Friday the 11th December at 7:30pm.
The winning entry will win a £50 voucher for Calder Graphics in Huddersfield, three free tickets to the Christmas Concert and the pre-Concert reception and a free half day singing workshop for the applicant’s school run by the Choral Society’s Junior Choirs Musical Director.
The prizes will be presented to the winner on stage before the Concert begins by Brian Kay, the Concert’s conductor and presenter, and Jane Sargent, the President of the Huddersfield Choral Society.
The four applicants coming in second place will have their designs making up the back page of the programme and each of these four runners-up will receive a £20 voucher for Calder Graphics.
All five winning entries will be displayed in the entrance of the Town Hall on the evening of the Concert.

All entries should be sent to Sue Turnbull by the closing date, the 20th November, at: Lower Clay Pits, Cottonstones, Sowerby Bridge, Halifax, HX6 4NR.
The winner of the competition will be informed by a telephone call and their school/church will also be informed after the competition has been judged on the 22nd November.
Sue asks that Sunday School leaders who ask the children to complete their entry during the school time will collect the entries themselves and return them all to her in one go, rather than letting the children take their art home where they could be forgotten.
