How would you like to commission a song, go on a fungal foray, take a canal boat day trip, learn how to wear a kimono or get the vicar’s wife to declutter your house?
All Hallows Hyde Park is showcasing the many talents of its congregation with an auction of promises to raise money for a new roof.
Vicar, the Revd Heston Groenewald, says, “At All Hallows we put a big emphasis on welcoming, accepting and nurturing people whatever their colour, faith, sexuality or brokenness. We host asylum seekers, provide support groups for LGBTI+ people, a pay-as-you-feel-cafe, a meeting place for the local community and we bring people together for reconciliation.
“But for the work to continue, we need to replace our leaky roof, the toilets and the boiler. So our wonderful congregation have been offering their many skills in an auction of promises. Please bid – you’ve got until 21 May!”
A selection of the promises include:
Mini promo video - A short promotional video made for your project or initiative.
A song commissioned by you - for someone you love or to celebrate a special occasion? Recorded, and, if wished, performed in person.
Fungal foray - An autumnal walk to identify and collect fungi in a local woodland site, ending with a mushroom supper!
Introduction to mindfulness meditation
Pond dipping – find out about the creatures living in a pond
Bring order out of chaos – the vicar’s wife will help you declutter, tidy and file
Also on offer is computer assistance, car servicing, babysitting, gardening, and an Indian meal cooked in your home. More here.
And on 3 June they’re holding a kimono dressing and photo party (2-5pm)
