Curate Abbie to conquer the heights of Ripon Cathedral for good causes

Curate Abbie Palmer will descend the dizzy heights of Ripon Cathedral's south west tower to raise cash for a new nave altar at her church.

Revd Abbie, currently a curate at St Michael and All Angels, Beckwithshaw, will join up to 96 brave souls at the sponsored abseiling day on Saturday, May 18, which is primarily to boost the Cathedral Development Fund. Properly roped, she will do the sponsored 115ft drop in aid of the cathedral and also the new altar.

“I last abseiled when I was 12 years old” says Abbie.

“But it seemed such a great event and I do love a challenge.

"It’s also a great way to see the city of Ripon from a whole new perspective and also raise funds for the cathedral's outreach work.

"I understand that Bishop Helen-Ann’s teddy will also be making the descent!"
