Dewsbury minster is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the reordering of its worship area and organ with a special concert by the Aysgarth School choir this Friday.
The celebrated choir and their director of music, Matthew Atherton will perform a display of choral and organ music. It is part of a series of celebrations of the re-ordering of the Minster’s worship area which included the installation of a second hand organ which had been moved from St Mark’s Dewsbury when it closed.
It was completely refurbished and rebuilt by Malcolm Spink’s Organ Builders.Malcolm is a valuable Member of the Dewsbury Minster congregation, and a member of the choir, and a performer and accomplished composer of hymns. In his role as Organ builder, he has recently improved the range of the organ with new stops.
Graham Mansfield, of the Minster, said: "This is a real treat for anyone interested in superb music both choral and organ. It is a real privilege to have the Aysgarth School choir perform here – and an opportunity for us to show off our superb acoustics and spread the Word by generating new growth.
