Calverley’s cricket-playing vicar, the Revd Phil Arnold, is one of many fans to sign a book of remembrance for Yorkshire Cricket Club president John Hampshire.
The much-loved Yorkshire and England batsman died recently aged 76 and the Revd Phil Arnold of St Wilfrid’s, who captains the Diocese of Leeds cricket team, made a trip to the Headingley ground on behalf of fellow players.
Team fixtures for the Church Times Cup begin on Thursday, 11 May. Phil says, “We also have two nets sessions at Headingley that people may want to attend on Tuesday, 25 April and on Tuesday, 2 May”.
