Donkeys in Holbeck - it had to be Palm Sunday

Over 200 people joined St Luke's Holbeck for their Palm Sunday morning services and parade.

Vicar, the Revd Alistair Kaye, said, "In spite of the rain people came out in their droves waving palms and singing along to the Salvation Army Band as we walked from Hunslet Salvation Army to the church.

Two beautiful donkeys lead us up to the road to St Luke's and after our service, children enjoyed donkey rides on the green.  It was a tremendous way to celebrate the beginning of Holy week."

Palm Sunday takes place a week before Easter Sunday, and commemorates Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on a donkey. It marks the beginning of Holy Week, a week in which Christians remember and reflect on the events leading up to Jesus' death and resurrection.
