Churches in Cleckheaton began Holy Week with a procession recreating Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem - thanks to local farmer, Hilary Peel who kindly brought a pony to St John's and gave children free rides as the congregation processed around the church and cheered.
Earlier in the month, St Luke's church hosted a Confirmation Service with the Bishop of Huddersfield, the Rt Revd Dr Jonathan Gibbs. Thirteen candidates "confirmed" their faith as adult Christians, and were each blessed individually by the bishop.
St John's Mother and Toddler group staged an Easter bonnet parade and other events in Holy Week include an open day with Easter activities for all ages from 9.30am - 5.30pm on Holy Saturday (April 15).
This year's Easter Sunday services are: Whitechapel at 9.30am; St Luke's at 11am and St John's at 11am. Each will finish with an Easter egg hunt ie 10.30am and 12noon.
The vicar of Cleckheaton, Brunel James said "The local community in Cleckheaton are really making Easter special this year."
