Making her second visit to the Great Yorkshire Show, Bishop Helen-Ann Hartley, the Area Bishop of Ripon, has been taking part in “excellent and lively conversations” about the challenges to farming and food production.
Hosted by the National Farmers Union, Bishop Helen-Ann met with Jewish and Hindu leaders at the Great Yorkshire Show, celebrating its 161st year at the Harrogate Showground, to share stories and deepen understanding around faith, food and farming.
Other organisations and charities, such as the Farming Community Network, held further events supported by the Bishop of Ripon in order to raise the profile of challenges faced by farming communities and how charitable organisations are working hard to support and build resilience. 
Bishop Helen-Ann described the visit as a great experience with the chance to engage in excellent conversations and “celebrate our farming communities and the many ways they are connected to diverse contexts.”
The Great Yorkshire Show was on from Tuesday 9 July until Thursday 11 July and drew tens of thousands of visitors each day.
Whilst there Bishop Helen-Ann also had the chance to meet and take a selfie with well-known farmer Hannah Jackson, known as the Red Shepherdess, and was reunited with her favourite belted Galloway.
