Over 2,000 wooden crosses with poppies have been planted in the churchyard of Pudsey Parish Church, creating a field of remembrance to honour the sacrifices of armed service personnel. 
COVID-19 has meant churches across the Diocese of Leeds have been unable to mark remembrance in the usual way, with church services and those at cenotaphs usually drawing hundreds of people together.
The team at Pudsey Parish Church decided they still wanted to provide something for the local community, a means for them to be able to commemorate those who have fallen as a result of armed conflict.
"All together it comprises of 2,020 wooden poppy crosses, plus our four Tommy Silhouettes representing the Army, Navy, RAF and Sikh soldiers." explained the Revd Richard Dimery, Incumbent at Pudsey Parish.
"It has been in situ since last Friday and will be there for the next week, untill next Monday morning.
"We’ve invited donations to the Poppy Appeal and raised about £2400 so far, and hope to reach £3000.
"Over a thousand people have visited and taken photos so far (in small household groups) over the week and we hope to repeat it next year."
