Fire pits, baptisms, torchlit processions, Easter gardens and vigils were just some of the ways our churches and church communities marked this most holy of Christian seasons.
In Huddersfield, the community of St Thomas’s Bradley welcomed scores of local families for its Easter Light service on Easter Saturday.
Now a regular event in the church calendar; it is a free evening event for all the family with playground games: hot dogs: hot drinks and a fire pit followed by a short service to bring the light of Easter into church and finishes with fireworks.
In Halifax, members of the Saturday Gathering – who starred in the latest film from the Church of England released on Palm Sunday called He is Risen - joined with Halifax Minster for a special service of light into darkness with the Bishop of Huddersfield, the Rt Revd Jonathan Gibbs.
Over 100 members of the fresh expression church which grew out of a foodbank run by Christians Together in Calderdale, walked through the town to join the Minster for a short vigil and readings before carrying lighted torches back up through the town for worship and baptisms in the Saturday Gathering Place.
In Dewsbury the team parish’s regular Palm Sunday walk was well attended and marked the start of a their Holy week events. And the sun shone.As it did again in Huddersfield, for the hundreds who joined the Good Friday Witness organized by Churches Together. 
They walked, read scripture and carried a cross and witnessed to this most holy of days. In the parish church, they set an Easter garden, lit a fire pit outside and set a resurrection cross - made from the Christmas tree with Advent prayers) -which they decorated with flowers on Easter Sunday.

And on Easter Sunday, Bishop Jonathan rolled up his sleeves, donned an apron and helped the children of the Sunday club at Golcar make hot cross buns.
