Focus on Christians in daily life during Bishop’s Airedale Deanery week

The Bishop of Bradford, Toby Howarth has spent a week in the Airedale Deanery of Bradford Episcopal Area, visiting projects, meeting clergy and lay people, staying with parishioners in Manningham as well as holding confirmation services and an open meeting for the whole deanery.

The emphasis of the visit to one of five deaneries across the Bradford episcopal area has been to meet Christians at work or in their weekday lives and learn more about the work of the church and church based projects in the area. Between June 28 and July 2nd Bishop Toby visited the Bradford Royal Infirmary to meet with churchgoers who work there, visited a  'pay as you feel' café in Shipley which is helping to feed those in poverty, led school assemblies, and above all spent time with lay people in daily work.

The Airedale Deanery includes the towns of Shipley, Cottingley, Baildon, Bingley as well as the districts of Windhill, Manningham, Heaton, Frizinghall, Thornton and Allerton.
