Fujitsu will join forces with St Catherine’s volunteers to raise for food bank

St Catherine’s food bank will be returning to Sainsbury’s on Ings Road with Fujitsu employees next month to beat their daily fundraising goal from July’s bag pack.

St Catherine's are in need of stock for their food bank, so their daily fundraising goal is higher than the funds made from their previous bag pack which raised £1,400 and gathered four trolleys of food worth £450 over two days.

Jonathan Williams, Project Administrator for the food bank, says, “It is great to have the help from Fujitsu for this bag pack, and it just means we can spread the word about St Catherine’s food bank even further.

“The last bag pack we did was hugely successful and we very much appreciate all the support shown by the incredibly generous shoppers at Sainsbury’s.”

Jonathan mentions, “St Catherine’s is always in need of funds and support and this bag pack will go a long way to sustaining our Emergency Food Store.

“If anyone can help us at the bag pack for a couple of hours between 9am and 6:30pm we would be immensely grateful for the support.”

Leaflets naming St Catherine's as Sainsbury's Ings Road charity of the year

After being named as the Charity of the Year by the branch on Ings Road, St Catherine’s are expecting to receive help from Sainsbury’s throughout the year with numerous other bag packing opportunities and donations to support their cause.

Some of the wards in Wakefield are among the most deprived areas in the country and St Catherine's food bank provides help for these local people living beneath the poverty line, giving aid to families before other social care procedures can be applied.

The food bank is the largest in Wakefield and the Five Towns and was awarded the Community Enterprise Award at the Wakefield Express Business Awards on 25th June.
