Funday and Sunday helps families at an Ossett Church

A Wakefield church is helping families over the summer holidays by holding a summer fun day this week.

Christ Church South Ossett knows many families struggle over the long summer break and wants to offer something for everyone - free of charge.

This is the third year they have organised fun days and the last two attracted over 100 families, see left, and this year - they hope to do the same!

So on Wednesday from 11- 3 was a fun day for children aged from 0-12 years with bouncy castle, outdoor and indoor play, arts and crafts and an ice cream van! There were two children's entertainment shows in the afternoon by Mr McWitty and refreshments were available.

And this Sunday (Aug 13) Christ Church will be transformed into  Summer Sunday from 11-3 with a cafe-style church, craft activities, bouncy castle and refreshments. Families are encouraged to bring picnics.

Janet Nash, who organises the 11am Sunday service, said: "We don't make a charge as we know the long summer holidays can be an expensive time for some families. We just want  to provide a fun, safe and free day out for local families over the school holidays."
