Generous giving more than trebles church\'s cheque to charity

Two charities are to benefit by more than three times the amount planned, thanks to the generosity of worshippers at Holy Trinity Church, Ripon.

A special 'Mission Partnership' collection was taken over the Christmas period and now, instead of giving away £1000 the church has written a cheque for a total of £3500.

The first charity to benefit will be Christian Aid’s appeal for the Central African Republic & South Sudan where many people have been forced to flee.  The money will be split between Christian Aid and a second charity, Embrace the Middle East. Its work is with Syrian refugees in camps in the Lebanon.

Vicar of Holy Trinity Ripon, Revd Chris Butler said, “We set ourselves a target of £1000 for our special collection, but this year the generosity was such that we actually raised a much bigger than expected amount. £3500 is being split equally between these two appeals.”
