The former TV Gladiator, Ace (pictured right, now- and then), will be the guest in Ripon this week, as a local church holds a series of faith sharing events in the town. Holy Trinity Ripon are midway ‘Events Week’ which includes a comedy night (Friday 10th June), a curry night, a family fun afternoon and BigTea in the local Spa gardens to celebrate the Queen’s Birthday.
“The week of events”, says Vicar, the Revd Chris Butler “aims is to bless the community of Ripon and share the good news of Jesus with the community.”
There was a bright start to the week on Sunday June 5th as a team from Holy Trinity set up a stall at the Ripon car boot sale on Ripon Race Course. Church members gave away more than five hundred ‘Believe’ Mars bars as well as giving people ‘Try Praying’ booklets, and offering free glitter tattoos for children.
Warren Therman, who was also known as Ace in the TV show Gladiators back in the 1990s, will be sharing his personal testimony of being a Christian at a pub quiz at South Lodge, Ripon on Wednesday evening June 8th.. He will also be going into a local high school - and sharing his skills in a wrestling ring at a youth gathering that evening.
Meanwhile, Comedian , Andy Kind, will be performing at the Golden Lion on Friday evening as part of a pie and peas supper. And over the weekend 11th /12th June a display of the history of Holy Trinity will be on display at the church with a morning Service of Invitation on the Sunday which will be preceded by a free breakfast.
