Children in Liberia will be in for a Christmas treat this year as the Meltham warehouse for Operation Christmas Child opens and has been told over 8,000 of their gift filled boxes are destined there.
The warehouse at St. James Church Huddersfield Road Meltham HD9 4AL has just announced its opening dates and times.
It is open every week Mon to Fri from 9am – 5pm for drop off until December 2.
There is a large car park in front of the church on Huddersfield Road Meltham.
Anyone wishing to volunteer, will undergo training on their first visit and refreshments and a light lunch are available each day in the warehouse.
If you can spare 2 or 3 hours this week or next to help in the warehouse more help is really needed.
The packers have almost finished the 8,000 for Liberia but now have 6,000 to check for Eastern Europe!!!
Judith Powell, one of the organisers, said: “We have been told this year that 8,000 gift filled shoe boxes received at the Meltham warehouse will go to Liberia and the remaining boxes will be dispatched to Eastern Europe."
This year all the boxes can contain warm hats, scarves and gloves – but no playing cards or scary spiders, snakes etc in any box.
You can find more details on the leaflets and web site WWW.samaritans-purse.org.uk and click on Operation Christmas Child
