Harold Wilson Lecture 2019 to be delivered by Bishop Nick

This year’s annual Harold Wilson Lecture at the University of Huddersfield will be delivered by the Rt Revd Nick Baines, Anglican Bishop of Leeds.

Its title is 'The Will of the People?' in which Bishop Nick will explore the state of politics in today's world.

Bishop Nick became Bishop of Leeds in 2014. At this time he also became a member of the House of Lords. He has represented the Archbishop of Canterbury at international faith conferences and he recently stood down after 11 years as the English Co-chair of the Meissen Commission, which develops relationships between the Church of England and the Protestant Church in Germany.

Bishop Nick has particular expertise in communication and is known for his engagement with the media. With more than 14,000 followers on Twitter, his writing includes pieces for broadsheet newspapers, popular books on Christian faith and contributions to academic articles.

He currently leads for the Church of England on Brexit and matters to do with Europe.

Timings of this event on Tuesday, July 9, are as follows:

5.30pm - Refreshments

6.00pm - Lecture (approx running time 1 hour)

There are no age restrictions, however under 16s should be accompanied by an adult.

Please note that there is no parking available on the campus except for blue badge holders.
