Every parish has been asked to help Wakefield Cathedral build a large diocesan prayer station for Thy Kingdom Come beacon event in Wakefield Cathedral on June 4 with Bishop Nick.
The service for Pentecost will be the culmination of the Thy Kingdom Come events for the diocese and the Canon Precentor, the Revd Leah Vasey Saunders would like to have every parish represented by creating a dynamic prayer station of images from across the whole diocese.
The service starts at 3.30pm and it will be preceded by an hour of prayer stations around the Cathedral from 2.30pm. Bishop Nick will preach. The service will end outside on the Cathedral steps and will be followed by celebratory drinks in the nave.
Please send an image representing your church family/church/parish to help build up a unique diocesan prayer station. It will be created from Ascension Day as we pray our way around the diocese in the 10 days of Thy Kingdom Come and will remain in the Cathedral until the ordinations.

"Thy Kingdom Come’ has been described as a global wave of prayer for communities, towns, cities and the nation taking place between Ascension and Pentecost, 2017.
Over a period of 10 days (25th May-4th June), Christians both at home and abroad will come together to discover new ways of praying together that their friends, family and neighbours come to know Jesus Christ.
Here in the Diocese of Leeds there are a series of events and services planned both in individual churches and across Episcopal Areas and whole towns.

Events begin in Bradford Cathedral at 7pm on Ascension Day, May 25th. Six Prayer Stations will be open throughout the ten days until Pentecost, and on Ascension evening, after an opening liturgy at 7pm, worshippers will be given around 30-40 minutes to pray, using the prayer stations, before gathering for an Ascension Day Eucharist. The period of prayer at Bradford Cathedral comes to a climax on Pentecost Eve (Saturday 3 June) at 7pm with a Praise and Thanksgiving event.
At Ripon Cathedral, there is a special ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ service on Sunday May 28 at 3.30pm to which all are encouraged to come. Music will be led by a worship band and the preacher will be Bishop Toby.
Bringing Thy Kingdom Come to a conclusion, Wakefield Cathedral will host the Diocesan Pentecost Service of Celebration at 3.30pm on Sunday June 4th.

We are delighted that people from across the diocese will join us here in Wakefield for this great celebration, and hope that it will provide the opportunity as we pray together, to learn to love each other more, and to re-commit ourselves to serving God’s people throughout our region."
