The events of Palm Sunday were re-enacted on the streets of Bingley in West Yorkshire on Sunday afternoon, March 20th.
Organised by All Saints' Church, the parade involved a two-year-old donkey called William, which led the procession from the Five Rise Shopping Centre to the church.
It’s the first time that the church has held a Palm Sunday procession, although in recent years, the congregation has re-enacted the Nativity and Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem during December.
Organiser Yvonne Jones explained: “We have our own costumes from the Nativity and it seemed silly not to make use of them again. We're very pleased with how it went."
The Palm Sunday procession recreates the events in the Bible leading to Easter, when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey while crowds lines the streets and laid palm leaves in his path.
Passers-by were handed palm crosses and invited to join in as members of the church congregation processed through the streets.
Once it ended there was a a short service in the church by Ruth Dowson. Yvonne Jones added, “It went extremely well and we're really pleased with the number of people that joined the procession.
"There were people in cars stopping to take a palm cross. The donkey, William, behaved very well.”
