How art changed a school gym into a place of worship

Bishop Nick has visited St Margaret's Church of England Primary School in Horsforth to launch their new Christian values artwork - 12 mural panels depicting the school's core values.

The murals were created by the children with the help of artist Alan Purgusey.

Headteacher, Sarah Harridge, says, "We hold our assemblies in the gym, which has just felt like a gym, but these murals, along with the mosaic celtic cross we've created, really transform the gym into a place of worship - complete with visual aids to help the children understand what Christian values are about."

Bishop Nick also lead an act of collective worship: he talked to the children about the value they're focusing on this half term, compassion, and he kept them very entertained by teaching them a song  - ambitiously sung in three parts.
