How will you help those in need this Christmas?

Help those in need this winter, make your own reverse advent calendar and take it to your local foodbank. Your church can help you find your nearest foodbank.

One of our biggest emergency food banks is asking people to support their winter appeal by making a reverse advent calendar.

A harsh winter is predicted this year and St Catherine’s Church Centre in Wakefield is worried it wont be able to meet the need over the next few months.

Said Project Manager, Jonathan Williams: “A Reverse Advent Calendar is a really simple idea and a great way to help others who might need a little help at Christmas.

“We’re asking that you, your family, group, organisation, company, put aside a box and add an item each day until it is full.  Then, before Christmas, the box is dropped off at our food bank to help the less fortunate over the winter period.

“A very harsh winter is expected so your support in this would make a huge difference to the homeless, vulnerable and malnourished.

Boxes are available at St Catherine’s for anyone who would like to take part or you can always make your own. You can find St Catherine's Centre on Doncaster Road, Wakefield. WF1 5HL (just next to Wakefield Wildcats ground)
