It wasn’t all pints of mild or bitter at the St Robert’s Beer Festival held at Pannal near Harrogate last weekend. To encourage those who prefer a glass of bubbly, a ‘Prosecco Bar’ also featured as well as a family fun day.
Almost a thousand visitors came to the weekend of events at the church, which Vicar of St Robert’s Pannal, the Revd John Smith (other leading beers were available) said was a great success.
“We decided to have a Prosecco bar to encourage couples to come and experience a great community event”, said John. “We wanted to show the community that we aren’t weird, that we know how to have a good time.
“Part of the Christian message is about sharing in hospitality and that’s just what we wanted to do”, he added. “The children had a great family day too, with the infamous ‘Teddy Zip Wire’ from the church tower, high on the agenda!”
As well as hundreds of visitors 720 pints of beer from local breweries and over 320 glasses of Prosecco were drunk.
