Hustings for the upcoming General Election have been held at churches across the Diocese, grilling candidates as the country prepares to go to the polls.
Pictured here are hustings held at Ripon Cathedral, Keighley Shared Church and All Saints Ilkley.
Wakefield Cathedral also held a hustings event, with the Very Revd Simon Cowling saying: “I’m pleased to be chairing the Wakefield hustings for the upcoming general election.
“The Cathedral is pleased to offer itself as a space for this important community event.
“Those who stand for public office are taking on a huge responsibility and deserve our thanks.
“We hope that this exchange between the candidates and members of the public will serve the democratic process and our quest for the common good.”
Specific hustings looking at the question of climate change and the climate crisis have also been held in the diocese, including at Bridge Community Church in Leeds and at Wesley Chapel in Harrogate.
The Harrogate and Knaresborough Climate Hustings was organised by Zero Carbon Harrogate (ZCH) and hosted by Churches Together in Harrogate.
It was attended by some 180 people, with the evening was ably chaired by Jemima Parker, Chair of ZCH and Diocesan Environment Officer.
