\'Inspirational\' speaker for run-up to Paris climate change talks

As part of a new series about the environment at Leeds Church Institute, Ruth Valerio from Christian charity ‘A Rocha UK’ will speak about the theological basis for the protection and restoration of the natural world.

A former attendee at one of her talks said, "Ruth is a hugely motivating and lively speaker. I'm now genuinely inspired to care for creation rather than seeing it as worthy chore."

Tuesday, 22 September, 7.30pm, Leeds Church Institute, LS1 6DG.

This is part of a series of events for the People's Pilgrimage leading up to the UN climate change conference in Paris (30 November to 11 December). The conference objective is to achieve a legally binding and universal agreement on climate, from all the nations of the world.

Biog of Ruth Valerio:

"I'd describe myself as a community activist, Christian, academic, eco-warrior, mum, author, veg grower, wife and pig keeper rolled into one.

"I live with my husband and two daughters in Chichester, where I am part of Revelation Church, leading a cell group and preaching regularly. I am Churches and Theology Director for A Rocha UK and am a Director of Cred Jewellery, the world’s first fairtrade jewellery company.

"I am involved in issues of community regeneration, co-chairing the Community Association for the estate that we live on. With a theology degree from Cambridge and an MA from the London School of Theology, I have recently completed doctoral studies at Kings College London, looking at simplicity and consumerism".
