Instagram takeover offers special access to Easter celebrations

A digital front row seat at Easter events was given to Instagram users across two of the churches in our diocese.

The congregations of St George’s Church in Leeds and St Mark’s in Harrogate took over the Diocese of Leeds Instagram account to allow followers to see pictures and short video clips of their Easter events and services, using the Instagram Stories feature.

Starting on Palm Sunday in the centre of Leeds, St George's were the first to use the diocesan account to showcase their all age service in the morning and open worship night, starting at 6pm.

A few days after, Instagram followers were then taken to St Mark’s who displayed footage from their various services and events, starting with Passover meals re-enacted in community groups on Maundy Thursday. A mixture of images, text and videos were used, which also offered behind the scenes access to the churches Easter Saturday Sleep Over and Easter Sunday Sunrise Service on top of Almscliffe Crag.

To view the takeovers and receive pictures and stories from across our diocese, follow the Diocese of Leeds on Instagram at @leedscofe.
