Interfaith gathering at Bolton Priory for St. Cuthbert Lecture

LectureMore than eighty people from across different faiths gathered at Bolton Priory last weekend to hear the Bishop of Bradford speak about interfaith relations as he gave the annual St Cuthbert Lecture.

Lecture2Bishop Toby Howarth spoke on ‘Loving, living, learning: shaping our inter faith engagement in Yorkshire’.

Hosting the Lecture was Rector of Bolton Priory, Canon Simon Cowling, who said, “The tumultuous political events and emerging social movements across Europe and North America over the past twelve months made the subject of this year’s St Cuthbert Lecture especially pertinent.

“Examining each of the concepts Loving – Living – Learning in turn, the lecture addressed itself to such questions as how our religious differences are lived out, and how we might explore these differences in practical and constructive ways.”

The mixed audience was given time to discuss the subjects Bishop Toby raised, and a visiting Imam was also invited to make a contribution to the debate.
